About Professor Judith Phillips

Judith Phillips is Professor of Environmental and Social Gerontology at the University of Stirling, where she held the position as PVC Research between 2016 and 2024. She is also a co-Investigator of ESRC Connecting Generations. Judith was appointed as Research Director for the Healthy Ageing Challenge delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) between 2020-2024. Judith has extensive links with policy and practice, and local business interested in ageing issues. Following a Geography degree at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, she went to study at Stockholm University, Jesus College, Oxford and UEA, Norwich, where she worked as a researcher and a lecturer before joining the Centre for Social Gerontology at the University of Keele in 1993. Judith returned to Wales in 2004 to set up the Centre for Innovative Ageing and was also Director of the Centre for Ageing and Dementia Research (CADR) and the Older People and Ageing Research and Development Network in Wales (OPAN Cymru).  Judith is the Simon Visiting professor at the University of Manchester and has held visiting Senior Research Fellowships at the universities of UmeÃ¥ and Lund, Sweden; New College, Oxford and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
