In 2016, I was diagnosed with frontotemporal lobal dementia and Alzheimer’s, ending my driving career but opening a new chapter in advocacy. Working with Dementia NI, Alzheimer’s Society, and others, I challenge misconceptions about dementia and highlight that many live fulfilling lives, even with early onset.
Today, life on our small farm with my wife is a blessing. We breed and show pedigree Irish and Jack Russell Terriers, enjoying success at major shows in Ireland, the UK, and Europe. I am honoured to serve as Chairman of the 3 Nations Dementia Working Group, advocating for dementia-friendly communities, sharing my story to inspire hope and resilience.
Despite challenges, love and purpose guide each day, as I continue to live fully and support others facing dementia.
