Co-production and Involvement
Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE)
Core Lived Experience Group (CLEG)
Involving members of the public and people with lived experience in the network will not only strengthen the network but ensure that future research reflects our diverse population.
There are a variety of ways to get involved, those with lived experience of dementia (including carers) may like to become volunteer members of the Core Lived Experience Group (CLEG) and participate in regular meetings, a variety of engagement events and research consultations.
There are opportunities for members of the public and people with lived experience who do not become members of CLEG to get involved or contribute to a variety of activities including (but not limited to):
- Participation in events and research consultations
- Providing feedback on draft reports, resources and materials
- Working individually, in pairs and with others involved in research activities
Register your interest in joining SPIN-D Network+ by sending an email to our PPIE Coordinator, Debra Gingell: d.gingell@exeter.ac.uk.
Support
Volunteers will be supported by the Public Involvement Co-ordinator, Debra Gingell, who will share information about the network, research activities, provide support as appropriate and ensure that volunteers are happy with their involvement. It is hoped that volunteers will also be supported by network members and research teams involved in activities.

Watch SPIN-D Co-production and PPIE Approach Videos
This video –
- was produced for our launch event on 4th November 2024. The way that we developed this video gives an example of our Coproduction and PPIE approach.
- has been contributed to by Network Members who are not part of SPIN-D’s Co-production and PPIE Team. This shows that our Coproduction and PPIE approach is being co-produced and embraced across the network.
- is in an accessible format, providing visual and audio content which can be shared at future events and online.
- uses clear language and addresses the use of acronyms.
- shows that SPIN-D has the Leadership, Involvement, Commitment and Resources to make our Coproduction and PPIE approach happen.
The words within the video were contributed by members of SPIN-D’s Co-production and PPIE Team. This includes People and Carers Living with Dementia, and our partner organisations.
Making and presenting SPIN-D’s Coproduction and PPIE approach by video enabled all members of the Co-production and PPIE Team to be equally involved in the launch presentation. This was important, as some members were not able to attend in person.
